I can't buy this and not review it on here because there some pretty cool remixes in this set. In 1997, Dannii Minogue released Girl but due to musical politics, it didn't really do all that well but it did spawn three singles: Disremembrance, Everything I Wanted and All I Wanna Do. All these, and more, are featured in this exhaustive 4-disc set.
I'm not going to review the actual Girl album because its a pop record so its not really suited but the singles are suited because they contain remixes from Qattara, Trouser Enthusiasts, who would later have a hand in Bullet In The Gun by Planet Perfecto, Xenomania, D-Bop, Sharp and more. The bonus content on this album is three expanded CD singles containing mixes and remixes from the album's release plus mixes that were only released on vinyl and are now being made available for the first time on CD.
On All I Wanna Do, all the main mixes of note are present and correct; including the two Trouser Enthusiasts remixes. These remixes are epic; both go beyond 10 minutes each. The Qattara mix is also 10 minutes long. The real gem here is the Sharp "System" Instrumental which is a banging hard house stomper. There's also a rather nifty D-Bop mix too. The Toys Of Desperation mix is the highlight here of the TE mixes.
Everything I Wanted is joined by Heaven Can Wait on disc three. Every mix is included, apart from the Liquid Silk Dub of Everything I Wanted. This was left off due to time restraints but is available on the second disc of the CD single. Disc three has three Trouser Enthusiasts mixes, two D-Bop mixes and both radio edits of both songs. For me, its the Hell Fire Club Dub of Heaven Can Wait that tickles my taste buds.
Disremembrance was the third single from the album and features an unreleased dub in the form of the Diesel Plus Plus dub by Trouser Enthusiasts. Seeing a trend here? Yeah, TE worked with Dannii a lot. Anyway, also making its debut here is the Sharp Rocket Instrumental and the full 9-minute "Orchestral" mix by Flexifinger. The Twyce As Nyce mix is also included.
This set is cool and is a real collector's item, not least for the single mixes and remixes. Having most of the Trouser Enthusiasts mixes, excepting the Liquid Silk dub, is cool too.
For the Reviews page, I'm listing CDs 2, 3 and 4 only as they're the ones with the remixes on.
