The latest offering from the Tidy camp is a little different from normal in the respect that it has a genuine personal touch. Farley Time – A History of Hard House is as you would expect a real step back through time. It’s a collection of classic tracks that made up the genre as seen from Mr Farley’s highly experienced eyes.
While my personal tastes may have moved on it’s still nice to feel those pangs of nostalgia and in this respect it works. Another point of note is the method of production. This has been recorded on some good old fashioned 1210’s and a DJM 600 and you can tell. It has an organic feel which somehow makes it feel more human as opposed to something cold created on a sound engineers Mac.
There are some cracking tracks on here although if I’m being hyper critical the structure could do with a little adjustment. Some of the tracks seemed a little out of place with their neighbours and didn’t go together that well but that really is only a minor niggle. So if you fancy reliving some times gone by or you just fancy a decent collection of hard classics then you should give it a go.
