» Exodus (Original, Club, Daniel Loubscher & Bushi Mixes)

Label: Real Legacy Records
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

US Label Real Legacy bring a 4-mix package of Trance from MNZx2, with a variety of mixes from other artists.

Exodus (Original & Club Mixes)

The Original Mix begins with a two minute intro, without any kick or percussion. This really leaves it exposed to be used as an intro track more than something to be used mid set I felt, and after which an arpeggiating bassline drives the track forward. The bassline holds root note for the entire duration of the track, and there isn't a lot of melody in here to note either. The later section gets rather crowded with a harsh synth filling up the audio, and I also felt the track could have been finished better - as it was a little muffled throughout. The club mix is very similar, though comes straight in with the kick - which is quite harsh and muddy. The finish on this mix is the same, and both were lacking in a few areas I felt.

5/10

Exodus (Daniel Loubscher & Bushi Mixes)

The Loubscher Mix is a little more laid back in tempo, and the kick again is slightly muffled in the mix. A gritty bassline and stabbing synth starts to give the feel of a nice alternative mix, then some melody arrives which takes the track in a different direction. The small vocal clips are what ties in with the Original Mixes, although it has been reworked from the first two versions. The Bushi Mix has some fantastic elements, the early synths and percussion pieces - bassline all great - but the kick lets the entire thing down. Very punchy, dry, no warmth or depth and very, very boxy - this could have really made the track great if it was better. Again Bushi opts for the holding note throughout, and the vocal samples are evident - this is still the best of the pack for me.

6/10
