Introducing NEM3SI$’s new label Infinite Resistance! Reported by Jessica Alici / Submitted 23-10-24 11:48 Infinite Resistance is a Melodic House & Techno label by artist NEM3SI$, founded in 2024; to provide an all-inclusive platform for new emerging talent and established artists alike. An artistic home for free-spirited souls who enjoy creating without boundaries and constrictions, who resist the pressure of society to relinquish individuality and conform to normality. Read on to learn more about the artists freshly signed to the label. NEM3SI$ Firstly, please introduce your artistic self… I’m NEM3SI$, you could say my musical genre is Melodic House & Techno. It’s probably something that feels most natural production-wise, it allows me to blend sounds I love without compromising myself so to speak. You are the label founder and head honcho. Tell us about the label – why was it created, why this name, what’s the label’s sound, what’s the label’s ethos? Infinite Resistance was created as a platform that allows myself and other artists to release music based on the music. It’s important to have a place where the music is judged instead of your looks, social media reach and willingness to bow down to unreasonable contractual demands. It’s kind of meant to be an artistic home for free-spirited souls who enjoy creating without boundaries and constrictions, who resist the pressure of society to relinquish individuality and conform to normality. The name came from the idea of eternally resisting the pressure from society to conform, Infinite Resistance. The sound is very much melodic, but dancefloor-orientated, with a sprinkle of magic. Tell us about the artworks’ selected As this label is my baby, it was very important to maintain full control over the artistic expression at every level. So, I decided to be crazy as usual and make my life more difficult by designing the artwork myself. The first mission was to come up with a theme that I could use going forward, creating an identity so to speak. Now everything is in place it is a process where I use AI technology to realise my vision, combined with some old-fashioned mucking about, in the hope it looks good. What makes you sign a track? Good question, I have asked myself the same thing. I think I’ve realised that a track needs to touch me. When I feel it and it provokes a strong emotive response; I know it’s a fit for the label. And this can be anything from the overall vibe of the track to something as little as a riff or sound that just hits me. I’m extremely fussy about what I sign, if I like a track but it doesn’t sit well in my vision I pass on it. So, for me it is very personal and very subjective when it comes to signing tracks. Do you have any pet hates that would prevent you from signing a track? Oh yes! The arrangement can make or break a track, so I would for example not sign a track where the arrangement is flat. Besides that, poor production quality. In this day and age there really is no excuse for that anymore with all the tools that are easily accessible and even YouTube clips showing you how to produce. What do you think makes a good label? I think it starts with ensuring the foundations of the label are solid and the output is consistent. A great A&R makes or breaks the label too, from signing the right tracks to releasing them at the right time, but maybe even more important is to really support the artists, guide them and help them in the production process if needed and talk to them about how they can maximize their profile. A bit like the olden days of the industry where labels developed artists, just not as extensive. Other than that? Luck ha ha ha! Tell us about the first releases on the label? The first release is a 2 track EP from Strobetek, a brother duo from Germany with immense talent and an incredible drive to create. The second release comes from Mekci, another incredible talent who can really create amazing music. The third release comes from my good friends TOLOKA who are fast-rising stars in the genre now. And the fourth comes from DEX, an extremely skilled producer with a ton of talent and potential. I’m really excited and slightly nervous for these releases to come out. What are your ambitions for the label? The ambition is to one day be one of the biggest labels around, a label with a strong and loyal following and a place where artists love to release. A label where artists feel valued and know I have their back. We work in the field of melodic techno and are always looking for the different facets of melodic sounds and moments. We have mastered the art of shared vision and universal understanding. Without the other half, these unique productions would not be possible. We feel we stand out in Germany as we have conflicting tastes, and this is the catalyst for swinging between bitter analog techno and fascinating advances. Every Strobetek creation must have a deep character and soul. Therefore, we integrate a variety of ideas, emotions and algorithms into our creative processes. The overall experience is created by the analog sounds, using our talent which was born from pure interest and anchored in the same genes (two brothers). We have made it our mission to take the dance floor on an odyssey through mirrored opposites. Our first release on a major label was Protagonist Recordings. They gave us the opportunity to spread our art of music to the masses, to spread our attention to music lovers, and to make people dance. Who and what are your influences and inspirations? Currently we are inspired by Lauren Mia. Lauren's skills in analogue sound design, composition and music production stem from her lifelong involvement with classical music. Her piano skills and innate sense of musicality have shaped an ethereal, gorgeous and dynamic, distinctive sound that is full of texture and identity. Perhaps there will be an opportunity to perform with her on a big stage in the near future, who knows what the future holds? What do you feel makes you unique as an artist? We feel we have a unique style, so it is often difficult to get signed. We always try to incorporate new ideas into our production in order to develop a further learning process, so that we have sufficient symbiosis in our work and a minimum of contradictions in the creative direction and preparation of the material and its writing. Jens has a real strong talent with drums; he is the master of production in this area because as a drummer he has it in his blood! Drums are such an important element of our tracks. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? We usually try to set aside some time every day for the production of our music after we have finished all the tasks at work. Therefore, we try to develop the most efficient production methods to make the best use of the limited time to deliver a well-crafted product without rushing the development of the idea. Our main working time in the studio is usually Sundays when after the weekend we have a free head and creativity to compose music. We grew up in a family of musicians. Our father was a passionate trumpet player and did it out of passion, so the genes are inherited. Tell us about your upcoming release on Infinite Resistance "Dimensions" consists of a variety of sounds that allow us to perceive harmony and the divine. A world without contrast and polarisation is a blind world. This title tells us a story that begins with a captivating melody, and the whole thing is rounded off with atmospheric elements and a pleasant female vocal. Our inspiration is not in our heads during production, it arises during the execution of the composition. At the end of the production, we always have an artistic product that mostly surprises us! "Falling Down" brilliantly combines two antagonistic forces, experimental synths and melodies, symbolizing the essence of the duo, and is a perfect contrast between harmony and chaos. The ethereal sounds take the listeners into a journey - into the universe - never seen in previous productions of ours. We feel this track is a powerful weapon that fits perfectly in the most energetic moment of the dance floor! What are your future hopes, dreams and plans? Our biggest dream would be to be able to perform on a big stage like many producers of melodic music such as Tomorrowland, Zamna, Cercle. It would be a childhood dream come true for us to share the stage with the hottest DJs and producers. My artist name is Mekci, which is an anagram of my nickname Micke, which is the short version of my birth name Mikael, all three hard to pronounce if you're not Swedish! But Mekci felt like the best, to use as an artist, to have a unique name. I’m a Swedish music producer and have been making electronic music for many years. Always trying to improve and evolve my music to become better and find a larger listening crowd. One thing I love is progress, and with music there is always something you can do better, always something new to learn, it never gets boring. I live with my family just outside of Stockholm, born and raised here. I bought my first synth, a Casio CZ5000, as a teenager from the money I earned working during summer vacation. And as a computer nerd the ambition then was to use my Amiga 500 as a sequencer, but it failed. It wasn’t until I discovered the DAW Reason 1.0 that my dreams to produce music became more serious. And now many years later and many DAWs later I’m trying to make a combination of trance/progressive house/melodic techno. What is one of your earliest memories of music? One strong memory is when I was 12 and my 4-year older brother had bought a portable cassette/radio player (boombox) which was new and popular at the time. One day he came home with a cassette of Black Sabbath's- ‘Heaven and Hell’. And from that moment I was hooked…on heavy metal, which stuck with me for about 15 years, until I started to fade into the genre of electronic music. But I still remember hearing that special sound they had on that first track ‘Neon Knights’ and Ronnie James Dio’s voice, was magical! So in my blood runs heavy metal but my heart belongs to electronic music. Who and what are your influences and inspirations? There are many artists from different genres that have inspired me and had an influence on my sound and melodies. Metta & Glyde, BiXX, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Craig Connelly, Jonas Saalbach, Rebuke, Deadmau5, Dowden, Pet Shop Boys, and Jean-Michel Jarre; just to mention a few from the top of my head. But maybe there also are influences from my love for heavy metal somewhere deep down, Metallica, Megadeath, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and so many more. What do you feel makes you unique as an artist? I don’t know… I try to take inspiration from other artists and many times replicate what I hear. But since it never becomes an exact copy, it becomes my own version and my own sound, when I apply it to my own arrangement, and because of my music references that lay back in the unconscious; I think it might sound quite different from other artists. But I don’t try to overthink things, so I’m not focused on just making sure it’s my own unique sound all the time, as that would remove the fun in making music, the uniqueness will come by itself, or it doesn’t come at all. Tell us an interesting fact about your non artist self? I love planting and growing plants, herbs, tomatoes, paprika, lettuce, red beet and many more. Mostly plants you can eat but also other green things. I have a 2-meter-high and 2-meter-wide avocado tree that I planted myself over 5 years ago. And I bought a bunch of growing lights so I can grow plants indoors during the winter. Tell us about your upcoming release on Infinite Resistance – the track name & reason for this title, inspiration for track, describe the track, how was the track made etc… The track is called ‘2 minutes to 5’ and naming the track is one of the hardest parts for me. All tracks get a work in progress number and in this case, it was 25, so what better then to name it ‘2 minutes to 5’. Like so many of my tracks it all begins with a kick and a bass. It could be that I just heard a track on Spotify that I found interesting, don’t remember how it was with this track, but I found a groove that I immediately felt could become a full track. And when I had finished a 16-bar loop, I stumbled across this soft and beautiful vocal loop that was like the icing on the cake when combined with my loop. Then I really felt this could become a great track. What are your future hopes, dreams and plans? I hope that one day I will have a track played by a major DJ/artist at a big festival, and I dream that I walk into a club, restaurant or other public place and all of a sudden hear one of my tracks being played. And the plan to achieve this is by continuously making new and better tracks while having fun doing it. We are TOLOKA - a Ukrainian duet of two sound producers who have been loving music for a long time, and recently decided to try making it ourselves with a more melodic and emotional sound. Our tracks allow you to immerse yourself in the world of trendy but still an organic original sound. What is one of your earliest memories of music? The first memories are probably from youth, when we had the opportunity to listen to Prodigy, Propellerheads, Depeche Mode, and lots of other cool music. Who and what are your influences and inspirations? Emotions often influence our writing of music, emotions that you get from life, from listening to other music, and from the experiences of certain life situations. What do you feel makes you unique as an artist? We live with music, during our work as DJs, we managed to listen to a lot of different music, and this influences our tastes and preferences. The music industry works for the listener, therefore, first of all, we count on our fans who inspire our work and our uniqueness. All artists are unique because everyone has their own personal vision of how they want to fill the sound and every artist inputs their own personal emotional components into their tracks. Tell us about your upcoming release on Infinite Resistance The name of the track is ‘Gargantua’ which is one of the biggest black holes, and here we decided that this track would attract, absorb, envelop, and penetrate with its electrified sounds - much like a black hole. What are your future hopes, dreams and plans? The main dream and hope for the future is a peaceful sky in Ukraine and a bright future for our children! This dream unites millions of people around the world. My name is Viktor, hailing from the heart of Ukraine. I began my musical journey in March 2022, a time when my country faced unimaginable challenges. Music became my refuge, a way to channel my emotions and translate the turbulence around me into something meaningful. My current style is a blend of melodic house & techno - a genre that allows me to weave deep emotions into intricate soundscapes. I also have a passion for afro house, where I infuse rhythmic, earthy beats with melodic elements, creating a sound that is both grounded and expansive. What is one of your earliest memories of music? One of my earliest and most vivid memories of music is hearing The Prodigy's ‘Out of Space’ for the first time. It was a revelation; unlike anything I had ever heard before. The energy, the rhythm, the sheer audacity of the sound - it was electrifying. That moment marked the beginning of my love affair with electronic dance music. It was as if the music opened up a new dimension, a space where I could lose myself and find myself all at once. Who and what are your influences and inspirations? My influences are both diverse and profound. Artists like Camelphat, Stephan Bodzin, and ARTBAT have left a significant mark on my music, not just in terms of sound but in the way they convey emotion through their tracks. Their ability to fuse deep, driving beats with melodic intricacies has deeply impacted my approach to music. They’ve shown me how to create a balance between intensity and subtlety, something I strive to bring into my own work. Beyond that, I also draw inspiration from various genres and eras, from the timeless energy of classic dance music. What do you feel makes you unique as an artist? I believe my uniqueness comes from the way I blend a wide range of influences into my music. Growing up, I was captivated not just by electronic music but by various genres, each leaving an imprint on my creative process. My sound is a reflection of this eclectic mix, where the nostalgia of the past meets the pulse of the present. The echoes of classic tunes from the previous century often find their way into my tracks, adding a layer of timelessness to my work. This fusion of diverse elements, coupled with my personal experiences, especially the profound impact of living in the Middle East, shapes a sound that's both familiar and fresh, intimate yet expansive. Tell us an interesting fact about your non-artist self? Before I fully immersed myself in the world of music, I spent over 15 years working in the aviation industry, a career that took me to many corners of the world. I also lived in Dubai for a significant portion of my life. The Middle East with its rich culture and unique blend of tradition and modernity has left an indelible mark on my soul. Tell us about your upcoming release on Infinite Resistance – the track name & reason for this title, inspiration for the track, describe the track, how was the track made etc… My upcoming release on Infinite Resistance is titled ‘Solstice’. The inspiration for this track emerged after the catastrophic events in my town on June 27, 2022. At that time, I had just begun my journey as a music producer and was taking piano lessons to deepen my understanding of music theory and improve my playing. In the aftermath of that tragic day, I sat at the piano, and while I can't fully recall the emotions I experienced, an idea started to take shape. The Solstice represents a time of transition, where light meets darkness, and for me, this track embodies that very contrast. What are your future hopes, dreams, and plans? Looking ahead, my dreams are both simple and ambitious. I want to continue exploring and expanding my sound, pushing the boundaries of what I can create. My hope is to connect with listeners on a deeper level, crafting music that resonates with their experiences and emotions. I also dream of collaborating with artists who share a similar passion for innovation and emotional depth. A big aspiration of mine is to participate in major events and festivals and to one day play the music I love on Ibiza—just to stand at the decks on that iconic island and share my sound would be a dream come true. If someone wrote a book about your life so far, what would be the title? If someone were to write a book about my life so far, the title would be ‘Through Fire and Sound’.
