THE NEW SIDS?! Thursday night Addiction @ South Side Bar Reviewed!
Reported by Camden Nurse

Start as you mean to go on!
A common phrase widely used by those characters they call clubbers and proven to the max at Addiction, convened every other Thursday at the South Side Bar, Cleveland Street, W1.
We arrived as the venue doors were opening (literally) to be greeted by one of the Addiction organisers, Andy T ‘enthusiastically’ bouncing around, shouting: Come on! Glad you're here! It was obvious the party had started.
Addiction's Andy and Mike
Just off Tottenham Court Road, the South Side Bar is a pearl in the big ocean of the City. With a capacity of about 150, it could easily be mistaken for a quiet, friendly bar. Until you venture downstairs into the clubbing area that is......
Addiction in Action
Thursday night isn’t necessarily the most appropriate night to get battered but with cheap drinks and alcoholic offers throughout the evening, I’m sure you'll be easily swayed!
Note: Two beers and a bottle of red wine - just over £15; Entry - FREE!
Most arrived straight from work which probably added to the limitless effort to enjoy ones self displayed by attendees.
The layout is perfect. A small bar, complete with friendly bar staff, sofas and (moving) tables, clean toilets, and an open DJ box for all to see. Addiction was lucky enough not only to have a wonderful location, but the all-important atmosphere and crowd to go with it and bring all the elements of a fantastic party to round it off. It’s often difficult to hold a constant upbeat atmosphere throughout the whole of an event, but Addiction maintained this with ease. No question about it and it plain to see until the last punters left!
Karl Alexander
With DJ’s: DJs Marc Antoine (Chemical Reaction), Mancub (Momentum), Karl Alexander (Ground Zero) and Jared V (The Crown), the delight and highlight was Trevor Mclachlin’s (Friendz) set playing old classic’s that heard the phrase ‘this is such a choooon!’ being shouted across the room.

Now, I am not one to partake in many extra curricular activities on a school night, however, the next event is already noted in my diary knowing full well that I will have a hangover the next day as will 149 others. See you there!

Following the success of our 1st and 2nd parties. Addiction returns to bring you the 3rd party which has not been featured on our original flyer.
Located in the central, stylish basement of the South Side Bar, Addiction promises to bring to you the best in established & up & coming DJs. Kicking our 3rd party off is 'Trance Boy' Matt Dahl. After coming a respectable 3rd place in the recent HF Boys Vs Girls DJ Comp @ Turnmills, and also playing at Spangulation Matt is fast becoming known for his bouncy trance. Next up continuing the trance vibe we have Barry D. Barry is one half of the production duo 'Audiology'. Their next ep 'Reflex & Overdose' is out soon on 3Dom records and they are both quality Hard Trance numbers. Stepping up next we have Lawrence Bucknell. Lozz is resident for Affinity and will pick up the pace a bit to get you all really moving. Next up its me Andy T, delivering some seriously uplifitng Hard Trance, and to finish us off in pure style we are lucky to have RFO !! If anyone has heard his latest ep out on Nukleuz records they'll know he's got some serious talent to offer to the scene. Expect an hour of deadly upfront tunage.
Come join us and party in true style with cheap drinks, a quality Sound System & the best crowd in London on a Thursday night.

From: Batmanuel on 21st Sep 2004 23:02.29 superb night cant wait for the next one
From: Andy T on 22nd Sep 2004 09:05.48 Cheers mate, make sure you introduce yourself next time our next Event is actually on the 7th of October full details Here !!!
From: benz on 22nd Sep 2004 09:18.14 good stuff, but Sid's is Sid's. It's a shame there are going to be two small thursday nighters in the same neck of the woods cos it means they will both only be half as full compared to if they were on different nights.
and at the end of the day SSB is never going to beat Sid's on p[rices!
so i'm afraid mine's a Superbock
good luck anyhow
From: Andy T on 22nd Sep 2004 09:35.32 , @ SSB its £3 for two bottles of beer, at Sid's its £1.50 for one, & as far as I know you cant get a double vodka redbull @ Sid's for £3 or 2 4 1 Cocktails, Im sorry but we rinse Sid's drink prices, and I firmly believe there are more than enough clubbers to make both parties work, especially as ours is only twice a month.
From: FrankyB on 22nd Sep 2004 10:01.51 This night is about having fun and listening to good music catching up with mates, having a dance and getting drunk. Its all about letting your hair down after work. I cant wait for the next few events to come along
From: Olly Perris on 22nd Sep 2004 10:45.32 absolutely cant wait to come to this one in october, really looking forward to it, and really glad its taking off well for you guys!!
From: Stevi D on 22nd Sep 2004 15:09.13 Nice work guys, and im sure this events gonna take off in full force by the time winter properly kicks in. Best of luck Andy and Mike and look fwd to playing for you lads!
From: Mike Harris on 22nd Sep 2004 18:46.41 Thanks alot Hazel, the review is wicked!
The last Addiction party went off and myself and Andy were really happy so many ppl came down to show there support, Thanks for coming !! we really hope some of you guys that missed the 1st and 2nd party's will be able to make it down to our previously un-advertised party on the 7th
Hope to see you then!
From: luke warner on 22nd Sep 2004 19:37.01 Was a wicked night, well done Andy and Mike, your efforts paid off. See you at the next one, cant wait to play either
From: Ashley James on 22nd Sep 2004 20:13.19 I have to say...
I'm well proud to be a part of this. With only two nights done so far, everybody is talking about it.
From: nige_n on 24th Sep 2004 08:37.02 I intend to alternate my weeks so I can enjoy both sids and Addiction. Going the same place week after week becomes stale.
From: Tom Foy on 24th Sep 2004 10:13.03 Good work guys! Look forward to seeing you again soon!
From: kimba_lee on 24th Sep 2004 17:44.06 Nice story and its a good party but the title of the story is not right. Sids is back on the 14th so its a bit rude to say your the new Sids. Like the other guy said, different things so don't compare them, would probably be for the best. Wasn't around for Sids admittedly but its sort of like Heat advertising that they are the new Frantic or something.Cheers.
From: EssQue on 25th Sep 2004 13:35.19 Hey boys - this is going somewhere. Somewhere near the top and well deserved. Agree, it should not be compared to the old Sids and people shouldn't even say "sorry but Sids is it for me" without even given this place a chance. That is a seperate promotion so leave it at that. As I said before your last party was one of my best nights out all year, whether it was a Thursday or not. No pressure but you guys have now set a standard that you don't want to drop. I sure you won't and I also look forward to giving my bit in the near future. See you down there next week lads. And the weeks thereafter. Just 1 question though. You say it's going to be twice a month (possibly with the odd one in between). Are you going to make it easier for us to remember what Thursdays it going to be, eg 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month?????
From: Andy T on 26th Sep 2004 10:51.30 In response to your thoughts Kimba, I didnt write the review. It was completely independant and I didnt choose the title. It was written by someone who came and quite simply had a blast and liked it so much they wanted to review it.
And in response to Sean, next year we will have complete consistency, we just had to work around existing random bookings in the SSB's diary
From: Camden Nurse on 26th Sep 2004 21:16.56 Happily skip alomg to the next one, just in time for the TW6!
From: Ian Edwards on 30th Sep 2004 16:11.13 lots of luck with your party. ours is also doing very well. watch out for BASIC the next one is at HEAVEN, the 3rd of Dec. it's a fri so dont worry you can come and check us out aswell. we have PHIL REYNOLDS and GUFFY , EL GREKO, NICK WIGMORE AKA WIGGI BASIC. HOKI. plus myself STRETCH many more. DONT MISS IT!!!!
From: Andy T on 30th Sep 2004 18:26.49 slighty inappropriate place for a plug eh Stretch ?? best of luck with your party anyway, hope you can come and check ours out
From: Andy T on 30th Sep 2004 18:28.23 Really looking forward to the 7th, the latest Audiology record is out now on 3Dom Records, and both sides are Fantastic I can't wait to hear Barry play, and RFO as well !!!, its going to be a good night
From: Yojo - Cyberkitten on 2nd Oct 2004 07:27.57 Well done to the Addiction lads for kickin' off a wiikid new night with gusto! The CyberKitten crew look forward to coming to this shindig - in the diary for December as our very own Neil E will be there to tear the proverbial roof off an' some (sorry Santa but yer jus' gonna have to park them gosh darn reindeer in the back)..........MadKat xx
From: Andy T on 5th Oct 2004 20:05.48
