Bubbles - Review

Reported by space cadet / Submitted 01-05-02 14:31

I'd heard a few things about Bubbles from friends and read harderfaster's previous review but I didn't know quite what to expect from this party. Tom had asked me to review for the web site so with me plus one on the guest list my Saturday night was settled. I had nothing else planned so I grabbed two of my good clubbing buddies and off we went. We got to Belushi's around half nine, which is really f***in early in my book, but I wanted to go and check out the up 'n' coming talent that is Dee-Licious having already heard her at Frenzied all the way across town in Acton a couple of months ago. There was definitely a sense of excitment in the air, whether that was just me and my two mates feeling like something naughty was about to happen as we walked through unknown streets to our destination, or it was just the magic that shrouded the entire area around Bubbles we didn't know! Thankfully we were soon to find out...

Bubbles is very fairly priced for the line up we were offered, £5 members and £8 non members. For the time that we got there it was surprising how many people were already jumping about with huge grins spread across their faces, the dancefloor already had people not dancing but amazingly havin' it. Hang on, check my watch, is it really twenty to ten or does it need winding up ? Dee-Licious was dancing around behind the decks looking like she was having a great time banging out tunes which would probably have seemed too much for a warm up in most clubs, yet at Bubbles more than got away with it as it went down a treat !

By half ten the dancefloor was... full? Oh this F***in watch, ask my mate, what, half ten!!! OK, so the dancefloor was as full of clubbers as it is at 4am at the Camden Palace. 'I love this place' I thought as guest DJ Jnr Jakeman took the crowd higher with another anthem. Other DJs playing on the night included Marc French who played a great set, newcomer Bronson Vieira and resident DJ Cosmic who was b2b with Marc-E who was a really nice guy, good to meet you! Awesome set!!! And probably my favourite DJ Dan Madams b2b with another Bubbles resident, Simon the Fireman. Like most people there I couldn't sit down the whole night and by the end which wasn't until nearly quarter to five the dancefloor was absolutely electric!

'Three Cheers for Bubbles' yelled Dan Madams taking another slug of Champagne from the bottle and grinning manicly at Simon the Fireman. All in all an awesome night which just goes to show how the best parties aren't always the biggest ones. I'll thank the day that Tom asked me to go and review it for the rest of my clubbing days and with parties like Bubbles to go to that is going to be a very long time coming... Thumbs up
