Fevah Ibiza Reunion - Review

Choose Sunday Lunch with the family. Choose Sunday afternoon beers at the pub. Choose a delivery pizza and video. Choose an early night. 800 odd clubbers chose not to choose those. They chose something else….. The pool was open, the girls were out in their bikinis, the DJ line-up was wicked and the music was slamming. So, where would you rather have been ? Cool

Heading out to go clubbing on a Sunday afternoon always seems more messed up to me than going on to the after-party following a big Saturday night. Messy Walking along the Strand towards Charing Cross, there were tourists wandering about, people rushing to get to West End shows and others out for a quiet Sunday afternoon beer. Meanwhile we were making our way down to Heaven and a decent into sweaty, smoky, rhythmically-pounding chaos – all this and a pool full of mermaids and other strange beasts… Freak

The mood at the club was immediately friendly and upbeat as Skol and Steve Ryan were putting the revellers through their paces. An interesting aspect of the party was that all the DJs were playing B2B. Given the debate in the harderfaster forums about the merits of B2B sets, this promised to lay the argument to rest one way or the other.

Quite a few people had dressed up for the occasion, plenty of girls in bikinis and boys in board shorts and Mambo shirts. The rest had obviously not been home since the night before (or the night before that - we know who you are ! Wink ) The dance floor was full and the place was warming up nicely.

We wandered up to check out the pool and there were some hilarious interpretations of synchronised swimming / dancing going on in there. Clearly a few folks were in the pool who had no intention of being in there when they arrived – shamelessly strutting their stuff about by the poolside in front of several hundred people dressed only in their Calvin Kleins.

We dragged ourselves away from the poolside (before the overenthusiastic security staff made us get in!) and made a foray upstairs to the top level. The music was going at a more frenetic pace up there. Clearly that was the place to be if there was still something in your system from Saturday night that you really needed to work out of it. Disturbed We headed down to check out the middle level which was closed off and decided that the main room with the antics in the pool to entertain us was the place to be.

Riksta upped the tempo when he got behind the decks with Skol – and the crowd were really warming up. The party still had a bit of a slower feel to it in lots of parts of the dance floor though. It was Sunday afternoon after all and a lot of people we spoke to had been on a mission all weekend. So by Sunday evening, it was kinda part hard dance rampage and part Hawaiian hula-hula by the pool. Razz

There was a really noticeable rise in tempo throughout the evening. When Eamonn Fevah joined Riksta the music picked up pace and by the time Nick Sentience joined Eamonn the party was going at full speed with the big hard trance anthems getting laid on back to back. The peak of the evening for us was when Nick and Matt Clarke were playing B2B. This was a banging, relentless set leaving hardly a moment to catch breath, with driving tracks like BK and Andy Farley’s ‘Khemikal Imbalance’ and Steve Blake’s latest tune ‘Expression’ providing the vinyl ammunition to lay into the crowd. Nick and Matt grinned down at us as they set about well and truly finishing us off. I was one of the neutrals when it came to discussing B2B sets – no strong opinions either way. I’d be surprised if any of the B2B doubters who heard some of the sets at Heaven on Sunday weren’t convinced that they were worth showing up to party to.

Overall, this was just a wickedly fun afternoon. When the Muggles (normal people) were recuperating for work on Monday the party nutters were at heaven causing havoc. It wasn’t just the banging tunes but the whole pool side “ambience” and other silliness which made it such a blast. We crawled out of there sometime after 10pm, well and truly done with hard fast dancing – well for a few days anyway ! Razz Billy Boy Razz
