PANTHA DU PRINCE (ROUGH TRADE, DE) LIVE AV

Pantha Du Prince fuses house, techno, electronica and electro-acoustic soundscapes into music that is at once both beautiful and fascinating. Pantha has released several recordings through the respected German label Dial Records. His previous album This Bliss, was a bittersweet take on techno, which appealed to both dance floors and living rooms alike and was hugely successful. As a result he has become an in-demand remixer and has done tracks for Depeche Mode, Animal Collective, Bloc Party, and many others.

Hendrick Weber, AKA Pantha Du Prince will present a new AV show with a custom-built light/sound modulator that constructs sounds through light into the space and light through sound.

JON HOPKINS (DOMINO, UK) LIVE AV

London-based electronic composer, producer and remixer making powerfully emotive music that consistently crosses genres, ranging from solo acoustic piano to explosive, bass-heavy electro. A long-term collaborator of Brian Eno, his career has remained unpredictable, taking in collaborations with Wayne MacGregor, King Creosote and David Holmes; remixes for such varied artists as Agoria, Wild Beasts, Nosaj Thing, James Yorkston and Four Tet; and film scores for directors including Peter Jackson and Gareth Edwards. His hyper-energetic live show has been seen at some of the world’s most iconic venues, clubs, festivals and concert halls.

Jon Hopkins has just been nominated for the 2011 Mercury Music Prize for Diamond Mine, a collaborative album with Fence Records founder King Creosote. For Alpha-ville 2011, Jon will delight us with a very special AV show with visual artist Dan Tombs.

MAX COOPER (TRAUM, UK) LIVE

London minimal techno producer with more than 50 original releases, tracks and remixes under his belt.

From glitchy reinterpretations of big bands like Hot Chip and Au Revoir Simone to straight dancefloor 12"s for names like Agoria, Dominik Eulberg or Extrawelt, Cooper’s unique sound moves towards captivating techno that bridges lighter melodies with deeper, danceable basslines. Max Cooper has recently finished up a remix for Michael Nyman and his recent Metaphysical EP received a glowing review from differentgrooves.com, labelling his tracks “fragile” and “sophisticated”.

ILLUM SPHERE (HOYA:HOYA, UK) LIVE AV

Besides co-running the Hoya Hoya label and clubnight in his own time, London-born and now Manchester-based Illum Sphere aka Ryan Hunn made his name on the likes of Fat City and Martyn's highly regarded label 3024 with his remixes for him as well as Berghain favourite Ben Klock, and Om Unit. He has recently done a remix for Radiohead as part of the fourth Radiohead remix album.

Described as “one of the most special and unique artists to come out of the UK” by Hyperdub first lady Ikonika, Illum Sphere creates sound that draws influence from hip-hop as much as it does from psych, jazz and Detroit techno.

Live AV set bringing together Illum Sphere and EMN, one of Manchester’s most talented visual artist. EMN has done visuals for Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Gaslamp Killer, Hudson Mohawke and Kode 9.

ANDY STOTT (MODERN LOVE, UK) LIVE

Andy Stott made his debut for the Modern Love label in 2005 with the ‘Replace EP’ – a 4 track exposition of his uniquely slanted production style taking in Chi-Town and Motor City influences with an obtuse genetic code at its core. In the years since he has released over a dozen EP’s and an album under his own name, as well as several productions under the Andrea moniker for Modern Love’s ‘Daphne’ sublabel. Refusing to settle, his output has veered from deepest Techno to broken Garage, slowed down House and hyperactive Juke – always referencing his unique stylistic signatures: deep, complex and oddly beautiful. 2011 saw the release of ‘Passed Me By’, a mini-album of sorts shifting his sound into ever more frayed territory, slowing the tempos down for a set of tracks that have garnered the highest praise of his career to date.
