*Phyx is one of the consistent headline artists for Timecode
Records - he is known for upfront dance music, powerful
psychedelics, dark epic soundscapes and ripping high-energy
groove. Also one of the label managers of TimecodeRecords
based in Cape Town - South Africa...
*Slug is the psytrance project of Liam Gibbs, an electronic
music producer from Cape Town, South Africa. The Slug sound
is powerful fusion of psytrance styles, offering a great cross-
over between the twisted beats of the night, and the blissfull
melodies of a daytime dancefloor.
Liam began around the age of 8 or 10 with early live sets on
his mum's pots and pans, then moving on to formal classical
training in piano, saxophone, voice, musical history and theory.
*Mikey Dredd from Mushroom Mafia Records was one of first
promotors and DJs of trance in SA in the late 90s. One of the
true veterans of the South African trance scene, Mikey has
agreed to play a rare set for us...
*Tickets is the solo project created in 2002 by Josef-Ashton
Summs. Most of his time school was invested in the music
department where he studied piano, flute, guitar. He studied
to grade 6 classical music theory .
After graduation day 2001, and the year that followed from
then. He was subjected to the "norm" of modern genres of
music from pop,rock, reggae to electronic. This was the
opening of another side of his imagination.
*Distant Touch is Ashley MacLaughlin, a British born trance
producer and DJ living in Cape Town. Ashley's production and
DJ style is a mixture of full-on melodic daytime through to full-
on twisted, mind-bending night time psychedelic trance. His
musical background began at the age of 8 when he started to
learn to play the guitar. At the age of 17 he was playing
trance in London clubs and small squat parties and started to
write his own music in 2004 at the age of 19.
Since moving to South Africa in January 2009 he has
performed both live sets and DJ sets at various parties
including The Village and PsynOpticz as well as returning back
home within that time to play at parties in his home country.
*Archive is Lyle Jensen, co-owner of MMD Records, and SA
representative of Rudraksh Records in India. He has since
played numerous sets with some of Cape Town's most
respected up-coming and established producers as well as a
whole host of International stars, at some of SA's best and
biggest underground parties such as Alien Safari, Beartrap,
The Village, NYE (hosted by Alien Safari/Vortex) as well as co-
organizing MMD's own respected annual parties.
In 2006, Lyle also compiled MMD Records 2nd V/A entitled
Erratic Distortion, which showcased his signature choice of
twilight psy trance.
