Joining the Menthol residents in the powerful laser charged main room is guest Daegal Brain. We've been asked why he calls himself that - the answer is simple; it’s his name! Daegal plays a very high energy and uplifting style, based on various sub-genres of trance often with other elements added. He believes that his classical music training enables him to take a journey approach to his sets, a style that takes you from point A to Point B...whatever that may be!!! Either way, his passion for music and love of life is what he try's to portray in a set.
As a fan of Dance Music for more than 10 years, Daegal is able to tailor his set to the position given on the night, and is a firm believer in proper set construction. Daegal has an ambitious mixing style that goes beyond blending 2 records together and his infectious energy behind the decks is major factor in what makes him so entertaining. His set at Menthol is going to be recorded and will then be available for download from www.harderfaster.net
Meanwhile, next door in DisFunKtion this month plays host to a new DJ who is already making a name for herself on London's gay scene. Faye Lanson has been given a Friday night residency at Vauxhalls newest social, Barcode, following on from making appearances at Barcode's Soho establishment, as well playing at another Soho venue called Rush. Being musical for as long as she can remember, Faye told us that even in her mums womb she would kick like nobodies business as if she were dancing! At the age of 8 Faye was signed up for violin lessons which lead on to an appreciation of classical music. She switched towards dance culture when she discovered Heaven and Trade, and whilst she is at home with house music, she has been known to knock about with the odd bit of drum and bass vinyl. Faye said "I am so keen to get as much musical input as possible so I will listen to anything once . . . because you never know when you will hear that next unusual riff or loop that you can weave into a house set!"
Recently Faye played at the scene wedding of the year - a funky set at Stuart Who? and Wayne G's reception! We are always pleased to welcome new talent at Menthol and DisFunktion and we are sure that you'll love Faye, but you won't know unless you come along and see for yourself!
