Biography
DJ Dubs is native to Belfast , Northern Ireland . Akin to most DJ’s, his fascination with beats and bass has been evident from a very young age and since getting to grips with 1210s and the art of beat matching a few years ago, his eagerness to get a break in the music industry has been just as apparent.
After a brief spell on Irish DJ Radio Online, Clark took it upon himself to make use of his computer expertise and record a demo for a larger internet based station, ‘Dance Radio’. Soon after, he was given the opportunity to present his own hour-long Wednesday night dance show, which quickly became popular with English listeners and more specifically the hard house heads from the ‘Tidy Trax’ message board.
'Dubs has bags of talent and potential, a really good vibe, and his mixing ability is hard to fault'- Ken Ferguson (Keymix DJ Workshop), brother of Radio 1 superstar, Fergie.
Around this time Clark ’s good friend, Leigh-Ann Gouck, was Producing and Co-Presenting a prime time Saturday dance show ‘Clubtrax’ on Citybeat 96.7FM. Having introduced him to the concept of internet radio over a year before, she invited him to put forward a demo to be considered for a 30 min mix on the show. Impressed by his submission, Leigh and Presenter, Ross Mawhinney established that Clark ’s mix would be aired on live fm radio. The mix received a vast response and Clark was asked back an additional three times where he reached the final of the ‘Clubtrax Battle of the DJ’ competition.
During his stint on ‘Clubtrax’ he caught the ear of another Citybeat Presenter, ‘Credo’ head honcho Phil West who offered Clark his Credo debut in July 2003 - A significant attainment for a lad of just 16 years of age, considering the radio show has played host to Tiesto, the World’s number 1 DJ (as voted for by the readers of DJ Mag), Johan Gielen and such local luminaries as Chris Davis, Alan Simms and Jay Pidgeon.
'Clark has loads of talent and enthusiasm and I am sure he will continue to thrive and progress'- Phil West, (presenter of Credo, Citybeat 96.7FM)
Clark has also teamed up with Dean Morgan from Mixmaster Records in Belfast , to mix the forth installment of the ‘Digitek’ free CD series, which received champion appraisal from users of the Tidy Trax internet message board. The ‘Digitek’ series which has featured familiar names such as JP & Jukesy (Deprivation Records) & Daley (Storm/Flashpoint), has lately expanded due to popular demand and is now available to the majority of the World’s hard dance websites.
In recent times Clark has moved into the music production arena, collaborating with other producers as well as working on tracks single-handed. His latest track, ‘Come Back’ has turned many a head and is receiving support from djs such as Andy Farley, Jay Pidgeon, DJ GRH and Kernzy & Klemenza. The track has now been signed to Submatic Recordings so DJ Dubs is a moniker you no doubt will become a lot more familiar with…
